Or a rental electric drum kit with hardware and pedals. Whether you decide to buy or rent a kit, a couple of things to consider. Have them fit you to the set. See note above. You will need:
  1. Drums sticks 5A size for adults is a good start. There are kids sticks which are sized for small hands.
  2. The electric kit: Roland, Yamaha, and Alesis make numerous kits.
  3. Possibly a Bass drum pedal. Please avoid any kit without a real bass drum pedal.
  4. 1 Drum Throne
  5. 1 Amplifier suitable for drums. It doesn't have to stadium ready, you will be starting in a small room. Plus, cables to connect it all together.
  6. 1 cable that will allow you to plug in your phone or tablet to play along with. Some units have blue tooth. Check with the store employee.
  7. 1 Music stand
  8. A nonslip rug to put it all on or it will slide around. The bass drum pad will need to be secured to the floor. Or, what I do is had it up against the wall. And then I built the kit around it.
  9. 1 set of Headphones. Ear buds won't cut it.
  10. Before leaving the store ask the following question: "Do I have everything I need to get started? Is there anything I should know before heading home?"
